About Me

I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and the founder of Rooted In The Now Therapy and Wellness.

The work I do is personal to me.

I know what it is like to struggle with many of the same things I now help clients navigate: anxiety, self-doubt, overthinking, painful relationship patterns, and the exhausting habit of looking outside yourself for reassurance when what you really want is to trust yourself.

I also know how frustrating it is to understand yourself and still feel stuck.

You can recognize that you are overthinking and still get pulled into the spiral. You can know a boundary is reasonable and still feel guilty for setting it. You can understand where a pattern comes from and still find yourself repeating it. You can want healthier relationships while continuing to lose yourself inside them.

My own experiences have deeply shaped the way I show up as a therapist. Not because I assume your story is the same as mine, but because I understand what it is like to want something to change and still struggle to respond differently when the same fears, doubts, and emotions take over.

That is why I believe therapy should help you bridge the gap between understanding yourself and actually responding differently.

It should help you understand what keeps pulling you back into the same places and begin creating change that you can actually feel in the way you live, relate, and trust yourself.

My Approach to Therapy

I work with adults who are thoughtful, self-aware, and often deeply attuned to the people around them, but struggle to offer themselves that same trust and understanding.

My approach is trauma-informed, relational, and active. I am not a therapist who sits silently and expects you to carry the entire session. I ask questions. I offer honest reflections. I help you notice connections between what is happening now and what you learned to expect from yourself, other people, and relationships.

Together, we look beneath the reaction.

The anxiety beneath the need for control. The fear beneath the people-pleasing. The hurt beneath the anger. The guilt that appears when you choose yourself. The old experiences that continue shaping what feels safe, threatening, or possible today.

I believe there is a reason our patterns develop. But I also believe understanding where they came from is only part of the work.

The deeper work is learning how to respond differently now.

Why This Work Matters to Me

I know how much can change when you stop treating every anxious thought as truth, every uncomfortable emotion as danger, and every other person’s reaction as a measure of your worth.

I know what it means to begin trusting yourself differently.

That is why I care so deeply about helping clients understand the patterns that keep them stuck, build a steadier relationship with themselves, and create relationships that do not require them to disappear.

You do not need to become less emotional, less caring, or less affected by the people you love.

You can learn to stay connected to yourself while caring deeply about others.

That is the kind of change I believe in, both personally and professionally.

I provide online therapy for adults throughout South Carolina and New York.

A Little More About Me

I was born and raised in the foothills of the Adirondacks in Upstate New York, and being outside has always been a meaningful part of my life. I also love to travel and experience new places. Over the years, I’ve lived in Hawaii, Colorado, and Utah before moving to Beaufort, South Carolina, in 2024.

Outside of work, I’m usually doing something that helps me feel connected and present. That might look like hiking, running, walking my dogs, spending time with family and friends, or simply being outside in nature. I’m happiest near the beach or in the mountains, snuggling with my dogs, or seeing live music with friends.

I value connection, movement, and experiences that bring me back into the present moment. That is part of what inspired the name Rooted In The Now and continues to shape how I try to live outside the therapy room.

I also do not believe therapists need to be blank slates to be effective. I believe therapy works best when you feel like you are talking with a real person, someone who is deeply invested in understanding you, willing to be honest with you, and able to help you see what can be difficult to recognize on your own.
